CoolHeatDC presents first results at NEFI Conference 2026

Nicolas Marx from the AIT CoolHeatDC team will present the first results from the CoolHeatDC project at the NEFI Conference 2026, taking place in Vienna on 22 and 23 October 2026.

The presentation focuses on how the economic value of waste heat for district heating networks can be determined. Industrial facilities and data centres generate large amounts of waste heat, and the technical possibilities for making use of this energy are steadily increasing. However, successful integration also depends on creating economically attractive conditions for both sides – waste heat suppliers and district heating operators.

The presented techno-economic approach assesses the benefits for both the heat source and the heat consumer and identifies a zone of mutual benefit. This can provide a basis for price negotiations and the development of viable business models.

The presentation, “Waste Heat Valuation: A Techno-Economic Framework for Pricing and Negotiation,” will take place on 23 October 2026 as part of Session 11, Arena 21: “Systemic Perspectives on Industrial Transformation.”
