Silesian University of Technology

The Silesian University of Technology (SUT) established in 1945, is one of the leading technical universities in Poland, with over 1,600 academic staff and approximately 23,000 enrolled students. SUT consists of 13 faculties and 3 research and didactic centres, providing multidisciplinary expertise in engineering, supported by extensive laboratory infrastructure. The project will be carried out by Department of Thermal Technology, which specialises, among others, in refrigeration and heat pump systems as well as heat and mass transfer. The department also has expertise in numerical, and system modelling backed with dedicated experimental stands.

Role within project: SUT contributes computational and experimental analysis of two-phase immersion cooling to improve the design for server cooling systems in immersion tanks. SUT will develop a dedicated computational tool and a test stand to evaluate the thermal performance of two-phase immersion cooling using various natural-working refrigerants. The results will be used to develop design guidelines for scaled-up server rack. The SUT is also responsible for mechanical stress test analysis of immersed components.
